Frequently Asked Questions

Do you direct bill?

As a registered massage therapist I provide you a receipt after your treatment that you can claim with your personal insurance company but I do not offer direct billing at this time.

What is your cancellation policy?

I ask that you please notify me of your need to change or cancel an appointment between 48 hrs- 24 hrs in advance so that another person can fill the booking time.

If a customer "no shows" for an appointment (does not show up and does not contact) they are immediately banned from booking any other appointment in the future. If a continued last minute cancellation happens with your account you risk the possibility of also being banned from booking in the future.

Is there free parking?

Yes! There is free, heated underground parking at the Waterfront building. You receive an entrance code to park 24 hours before your appointment and then register your licence plate at the Level 7 reception desk. There is also city street parking available (and it is free after 6pm).

Do you accept walk-ins, or is it appointment-only?

All massage treatments are by appointment only. You can book online HERE.

Can I request a firmer or lighter pressure during the massage?

Absolutely! Your comfort is our top priority, and we encourage open communication about pressure throughout your session. Whether you prefer a gentle, relaxing touch or a deeper, more therapeutic pressure, Amber will adjust to meet your needs. If at any point the pressure feels too intense or not firm enough, just let us know—we’re happy to modify it to ensure you get the most out of your massage experience.

What should I expect during my first visit?

Before you arrive for your first massage, you’ll be asked to fill out a short intake form to discuss your health history, any areas of tension or pain, and your goals for the session. This form is emailed to you when you book your first appointment. Together you and Amber will then review the intake form and discuss any expectations during the massage. You’ll have a few minutes to get comfortable on the massage table, and your therapist will ensure you are properly draped for privacy and warmth throughout the session. You are welcome to wear undergarments or nothing at all under the draping, though proper draping is required by law in Alberta.

During the massage, you can choose to communicate or relax in silence, and your therapist will check in about pressure and comfort. Afterward, Amber may offer recommendations for self-care, such as stretching or hydration. If you have any questions before or after your session, feel free to ask!

Is massage safe during pregnancy?

Yes, massage is generally safe and highly beneficial during pregnancy when performed by a trained therapist. Amber has training and almost 20 year experience working with new mothers. Prenatal massage can help relieve common discomforts such as back pain, swollen feet, and tension while promoting relaxation and improved circulation. However, certain conditions—such as high-risk pregnancies, severe swelling, or complications—may require approval from your healthcare provider before receiving a massage.

Specialized techniques and positioning are used to ensure your safety and comfort. Prone position (face down) or sideline positions (laying on your side) are both available with supportive cushions, depending on each mother's comfort and how far along in the pregnancy she is. If you're pregnant, please let us know when booking your appointment so we can provide the best care for you and your baby.

What should I do if I have allergies to oils or lotions?

Amber uses organic, fractionated coconut oil in all massage appointments. If you are allergic to coconut oil please communicate this in your intake form so a substitute can be discussed or bring your own lotion/oil that can be used instead.

Do you play music during the massage? Can I request my own?

Music is typically played. If you have a preference of music please communicate this beforehand so Amber can accommodate.

Can I get a massage if I’m sick or injured?

If you’re feeling sick, it’s best to reschedule your massage until you’re fully recovered. Massage can temporarily increase circulation and lymphatic flow, which may worsen symptoms or spread illness to others. If you have a fever, contagious illness, or severe congestion, we kindly ask that you wait until you’re well before coming in.

For injuries, massage can be beneficial depending on the type and severity. Minor muscle strains, stiffness, or chronic pain can often be relieved with gentle massage techniques. However, if you have an acute injury, recent surgery, inflammation, or open wounds, it’s important to consult with your doctor first to ensure massage is safe for your condition. Let us know about any injuries when booking so we can tailor your session appropriately.
